Glazing the windows

Installed Windows
This installation was great because I had the wood frames to work with. Jared Godfrey of Godfrey Construction glazed in the windows and put the frames with the stained glass back on the hinges. It was one of the easier installs and I didn’t have to worry about it fitting when we brought it to the client!

Installing the windows

The installation went great! We caulked the window frames and put new molding to hold the windows in. The external house is being renovated and it made such a huge difference to have the windows repaired. Thanks to Lon and Rob for their help! Next up is to make them another large window to match the existing windows for their dining room.

This was a fun repair job! I got a call to look at some old windows and ended up taking 6 of them out of the frames that day. The house is over 100 years old and I’m sure the windows were installed at the same time. They are the external windows, so being exposed to the elements they were in need of some serious work. They were bowed, pieces were missing and one of the pieces had a bb hole. The major work I did was to replace the thin lead border with 1/4″ zinc metal border. That, along with soldering broken joints and cementing the windows, made them very strong and hopefully ready for another century!

Repair in progress

Installed piece
Today I went to a home and repaired some pieces on site. These 70’s style windows were made with wide enough lead that I could open the channels and put the new glass in. I found a great match in Kokomo Opalescent Glass. I love how the flag shows though the open piece. I didn’t see that until I downloaded the pics!
